Dyeing and bleaching effluent
Dye baths and wash water carry colour, dissolved salts and process chemicals. The mix changes with each shade and fabric, so the plant needs to handle peaks as well as average days.
Tiruppur (Tirupur)
Tiruppur’s knitwear industry depends on dyeing, bleaching and washing, and those processes use a lot of water. We design and support effluent treatment plants for processing units in Tiruppur, working from our base in nearby Perundurai, Erode.

Textile wastewater is one of the harder kinds to treat. A good plan covers the effluent, the recovered water and what remains at the end.

Some units treat their own wastewater. Others are members of a common effluent treatment plant (CETP). Your consent order and membership terms decide what your site must treat itself.
Reverse osmosis (RO) recovers most of the treated water for reuse. The concentrated reject that remains can go to a multiple effect evaporator (MEE) and an agitated thin film dryer (ATFD), leaving salts as dry solids.
Zero liquid discharge
After years of pollution in the Noyyal river, the Madras High Court ordered Tiruppur’s dyeing and bleaching units in 2011 to stay closed until they achieved zero liquid discharge (ZLD). ZLD means no treated wastewater leaves the site: the water is recovered for reuse and the remaining salts are dried as solids. The right ZLD system depends on your water tests and consent conditions.
Biological and chemical treatment remove colour, organic matter and suspended solids so the water can go on to filtration.
Filtration and reverse osmosis remove dissolved salts, giving water that can often go back into processing after testing.
Evaporation and drying turn the concentrated reject into solid salts and sludge for safe disposal or reuse where permitted.
